Hey everyone! This is a blog where I will post my family's "paleo" meals. The paleo diet is garden vegetables (especially greens), lean meats, little starch, nuts and seeds, and no sugar.

We really like this diet and it makes us feel great! My sisters sometimes ask when we're going to be done eating like this, and somone responds by saying that we're never going to stop eating like this as a lifestyle. Although sometimes (it's probably more than sometimes) we don't follow it as strictly as we should. We like sweets!! Happy reading!

Stuffed Sweet Potatoes

These are a big favorite here! Enjoy! Bake 6-8 sweet potatoes or yams until soft. For the filling: 1-2 lbs sausage, 1 large bunch kale, 1 onion, 1 green or red pepper, Few cloves fresh garlic, Mushrooms (optional). Fry the sausage. When it's about half way done add the mushrooms, onion and pepper and garlic. When it's almost done, add the kale and keep frying until tender. Season as desired (the sausage we use is already seasoned so we don't add anything else). Slice baked sweet potatoes in half. Slit the half and push sides apart to make a cavity. Fill with stuffing. Bake for another 20 minutes. And indulge yourself in divinity!

Muffins

We are on paleo for thirty days. It's hard to ignore the temptation when you're at Young Women's and they have a whole truck load full of junk! Too bad, my favorite food is garbage :) Since we've started this diet we've found a few delicious recipes. And they're all grain free and sugar free! Carrot cake, lemon muffins, coconut biscuits (these are OK), and apple cinnamon muffins. I'm going to try some banana bread soon too. Unfortunately I don't have time to post the recipes (schoolwork:() so I will post them tomorrow.

Simple and Easy

The other night, my parents had a very simple meal(they probably ate this because that was one night that we had pizza; they wanted to eat at least something healthy!).
First, they fried up some tuna steaks. Then, they sliced up some cucumbers which they seasoned with lemon-pepper seasoning(they're really good if you put lemon or lime juice on first!). And then they had mango for dessert! That's a REALLY healthy meal, and tasty too.
Mom felt great after dinner. But then, she gave into temptation and ate some pizza.
That night, while she was sleeping, she was covered in heavy sweat from head to toe. Her pajamas were soaking wet wet! She couldn't sleep. She didn't feel very well. She felt like her body was getting rid of poison! And it basically was. In the morning, her pajamas were stuck to her and crusty! Yuck! This was proof that pizza certainly wasn't good for her. And it's not good for anyone.

I'm not saying you can't ever eat pizza, but maybe less often if you eat it a lot. If you eat a lot of pizza, then that's March's goal for you! Cut back. Pizza's good once in a while.

The 'T' lunch

For lunch one day, my mom got really creative! First, she cut a hole in the top of the tomato and scooped out most of the seeds (we fed them to the chickens so they didn't go to waste). Then, she mixed some tuna and mustard together and filled the tomatoes with the mixture. It looked pretty cool (I should take pictures of our food!). My mom made one for everyone, but unfortunately, someone ate mine and I so I can't tell you how good it is.
